Guideline: What to Do If There Is a Server Connection Problem (MT5 Desktop Version)

1 Check Internet Connection
– Make sure your PC is connected to the internet.
– Try opening a webpage to confirm your connection is stable.
2 Verify Login Credentials
– Go to File → Login to Trade Account.
– Re-enter:
– Login (account number)
– Password
– Server (select the exact server name given by your broker)
– Wrong details will prevent connection.
3 Check Server Selection
– In the Navigator → Accounts, right-click your account → Change Password / Login.
– Make sure the server matches the one provided in your broker’s welcome email.
4 Test Ping / Server Speed
– At the bottom right corner of MT5, hover over the connection status bar.
– It shows ping time (e.g., “123 ms”).
– If the ping is too high or shows “No connection,” try another server.
5 Switch to Another Server (if available)
– Go to File → Open an Account → select your broker → choose another server from the list.
– Sometimes one server is down, but others work.
6 Restart MT5
– Close the platform completely.
– Reopen and try logging in again.
7 Check Firewall / Antivirus Settings
– Ensure your firewall or antivirus is not blocking MT5.
– If needed, allow MT5 as an exception.
8 Contact Broker Support
– If the above steps don’t work, contact your broker.
– The issue may be due to:
– Temporary server maintenance
– Incorrect server details
– Account issues
