[CAD/JPY] Trump’s Tariffs and Yen Strength

Former U.S. President Trump announced a 25% tariff on Canada, causing the Canadian dollar to weaken. However, last week, Mexico reached an agreement with Trump on immigration measures, which led to expectations that Mexico might be exempt from tariffs. If a similar deal is made with Canada, the same outcome might be possible.

At the same time, Canada’s inflation rate has started to show signs of increasing. This has reduced the expected interest rate cut in December from 0.5% to 0.25%. Because of this, the decline in the Canadian dollar against the yen seems to be approaching its final stage.
